A game that was relatively close in the first half was blown open by a 16-2 third-quarter from the Tigers frosh team. Constant ball pressure that led to 13 deflections and 16 steals, both season highs, propelled many transition buckets for Newberg, who shot 48% from the floor on the night. Newberg was led by Cody Burger, who shot a very efficient 9-14 from the floor en route to 20 points. Burger also had five steals. John Delay was perfect from the field (4-4) and scored a season-high 8 points to go along with 4 rebounds. Sol Byles led the Tigers in rebounds with 7, and four different players (Carter Bass, Sonny Apilando, Max Davidson, and Zach Owens) had two assists on the night. Most importantly, Newberg won the hustle stats again, and had great bench enthusiasm throughout the game, and showed improvement in their communication and leadership on the floor. The Tigers will have to continue to be humble and hungry to get better as they face a long road-trip to Summit on Friday. Lessss Goooo!
